With the upcoming presidential election on Tuesday, November 6, 2012, early childhood students are participating in an activity called "Run for the White House." They are doing some jogging during recess, physical education, kid's club, or activity breaks, and are accumulating miles. Four different courses have been measured and students run/walk the different courses depending upon time and class. As students run the course, they put a Popsicle stick in a box after each lap. A map has been placed in the early childhood hallway and students are attempting to jog from Wichita, KS, to Washington D.C (1,280 miles) by election day. A picture of a jogger is on the map and is moved as miles are accumulated. As the final day approaches, lower and middle school students will help us complete our trip. We will all meet on the track on election day to finish our "Run for the White House."
