Cruise Stop #16 - Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka was the home of one of our faculty members so, of course, we had to stop there. Sri Lanka is an island off the south eastern coast of India. In Sri Lanka we learned about their admiration for the Asian elephant, which is an endangered species. Preschool children played elephant tag. Children who were tagged had to freeze, make an elephant trunk, and be saved by an individual who crawled through their legs. The tagger used an elephant puppet. It was great fun. Kindergarten children learned that although cricket is the favorite game of the people of Sri Lanka, their national sport is actually volleyball. Students worked on the "set" and the "forearm" pass.
