The first two days back from holiday break were designated as "Shoe Tying Days." All kindergarten students, and many prekindergarten children, were introduced to this skill. Students worked hard and many were able to accomplish the task in one class period. Others continue to work on the technique and should practice at home, if possible. When students practice tying, I bring adult tennis shoes for them to work with. These shoes have longer laces and are a little more forgiving when children are making their bunny ears or pulling the bunny ears to tighten the laces. As their fine motor skills improve, students can begin to work on tying their own shoes. Congratulations to all students who have mastered this major milestone!
