W is for World

While warming up with throwing and catching in Physical Education, we've included some geography.  Students have been working with world balls and are learning about continents, countries, states, and cities.  There is a world map and United States map posted on the gym wall and students are finding various locations as we discuss them in class. Many classes have learned a song about the continents and we often sing it as we discuss the map.  Differentiating between universe, galaxy, planet, continent, country, state, and city/town is a challenging concept for young children, so discussing it with your child can be very helpful whenever you are talking about different locations. In the meantime, students are working hard to improve their throwing and catching skills. Practice, practice, practice!
