St. Patrick's Day Basketball Shootout

In honor of all three major Kansas college teams playing in the NCAA basketball tournament tonight, we played a game called the "St. Patrick's Basketball Shootout."  Students tried to shoot a basketball into a low basketball hoop (or a trash can, depending upon age). Each time a basket was made, a letter was put up to spell out St. Patrick's Day. In between shots, students ran a lap. This was a good game that worked on both skill and fitness, as well as letter recognition and spelling.  Sometimes two teams competed against each other to see who could spell this holiday first. The students enjoyed the game.
Good luck to all the Kansas teams: the UNIVERSITY of KANSAS JAYHAWKS, the KANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY WILDCATS, and the WICHITA STATE UNIVERSITY SHOCKERS.
