NOTE: This is my second post today so be sure to read my earlier post concerning tomorrow's Cinco de Mayo activities.
Today is May 4th, Star Wars Day. Here's an easy activity that you can do with your children that involves movement and word/letter recognition.
Write words related to Star Wars with sidewalk chalk on your driveway. Start your child a short distance away and tell them a word they have to find. Help them sound it out and determine what letter it might start with. Give them a way to move to the word (jog, walk, skip, hop, jump, slide, tiptoe, march, crab walk, leap, etc.) For younger students, make the words in two or three different colors of chalk so you can give a color clue in helping to find the word. Another helpful hint for our younger students is to give them the first letter or two in a word and let them find it that way.
If it's raining outside, you can do the same thing inside by writing the words on pieces of paper and laying them out on the floor.
