We spent over a week in Australia playing games native to this country and continent. Students learned about boomerangs, had kangaroo races on hippity-hops, played a throwing game called “Down, Down, Down” where throwing and catching levels got lower and lower, tried a marble dropping game called “Bounce Eye,” attempted Aboriginal spear throwing with foam spears, and played a tag game called “Stuck in the Mud” where children used the words “Thank you, mate.” Students enjoyed our imaginary visit to Australia.
