Most students enjoy Halloween for the fun costumes and the trick or treating. But in PE, we like it because it gives us a great opportunity to work on fundamental skills in an exciting way. Students worked on tossing, catching, and bouncing as they played Boo Ya, practiced stepping forward in opposition and rolling a ball as they knocked down mummies during Halloween Bowling, practiced bouncing ghost and pumpkin ping pong balls into cauldrons as they again worked on opposition of hand and foot during the Cauldron Bounce, and worked on running and dodging as they played Grab the Pumpkin and Chickamy, Chickamy, Cranny Crow. Integrating holidays can be such a fun way to learn. There were certainly a lot of smiles.
