Upon returning to school on January 4, 2016, students enjoyed a "Happy New Year" activity. Some students had watched the ball drop in Times Square on television but most had not, so we watched a video of it and tried to recreate it in class. It was silly and fun. Happy New Year to all of you. May 2016 be a great year for all of us!
Students watched a video of the Times Square New
Year's Eve ball drop then we had our own ball drop.
Confetti fills the air as students countdown to zero.
Fun glasses were part of our celebration. We did a dance to a song called Happy New Year. Students
moved around the numbered cones in various ways and either
had to find a certain number that I called out or gather in a
group of a specific number of people. It was fun integrating math.
At the end of the activity we went down to the floor,
counted back from ten, and sprang up to yell "Happy New
Year." Students gave each other a gentle hand shake or hug.
