Early Childhood Chinese New Year Parade

Students participated in a fun Chinese New Year parade. Many students wore red, which is considered a lucky color in China.  Some children dressed in traditional Chinese clothing.  Everyone looked great.  As students walked around campus they carried rhythm instruments to make noise, sparkle and ribbon wands for color, paper lanterns to light the way, colorful dragons to protect us, and toy monkeys to signify the Chinese Year of the Monkey.  Upper school Chinese exchange students joined us in the morning.  It was fun to have them parade with us.  At the end of the parade, students received a Year of the Monkey sticker and a traditional red Chinese envelope filled with a lucky penny, fortune cookie, lollipop, and hug coupon to redeem with someone special.
