Archery

Students once again got to use the targets as we learned about archery.  The recurve bow is the only bow that is used in the Olympic games. As children watched the Olympic archery video, they were amazed at the accuracy of the athletes.  Children learned the point values for each color on the target and worked hard to hit the bullseye.  Rather than an actual bow and arrow, I modified this activity to use the foam finger rockets and comets.  Students still got the idea of pulling back on the rocket (like an arrow) and releasing it towards the target.  It took students a while to get the hang of this but, once they did, they were excited to hit the target and figure out the point value.
