Going to HOLLYWOOD

Last week in Physical Education we visited the famous HOLLYWOOD sign in Los Angeles, California.  Researching this historic landmark, I discovered that it was established in 1923 by a man investing in real estate who used it as an advertisement for his new housing area high in the hills above Los Angeles. The original sign actually read "HOLLYWOODLAND", after this housing development.  In 1949, when the sign was in great disrepair, the city arranged to have the sign repaired, with the agreement that the word "LAND" be removed.  The city wanted Hollywood to be known as a place of "magic and dreams," rather than a housing area.  Over the years, the sign has been either replaced or restored numerous times, but now has a trust to help defray costs.

Students had a fun time in class wearing their movie star sunglasses and dancing to the song "Future's So Bright I Gotta Wear Shades."  At the end of the dance, everyone displayed their very own "cool" pose.  It was pretty cute!

 Sunglasses give you x-ray eyes.

Thumbs up for our Hollywood dance.

This class shows off their shades.

There were some very elaborate "cool poses" at the end of the dance.

 Three future movie stars.

Peace...from Hollywood!
