Lucky Penny Day - May 23, 2019

Although we celebrated "Found Penny Day" earlier this year, we decided to celebrate "Lucky Penny Day" on our last day of Physical Education, Thursday, May 23.  We played the same game as before and had just as much fun.  I threw pennies in the air and students found one and stepped on it.  We then said "Find a penny pick it up, all day long you'll have good luck."  Students bent down to pick up their penny and look at it.  If it was tails they ran a lap around the gym.  If it was heads they went to a designated piece of equipment and worked on throwing and catching. They threw and caught fun equipment like dice, light up balls, scarves, and deck tennis rings.  They had a good time.

Students find a penny and step on it.

Students reach down to pick up their penny and see if it is heads or tails.

Heads it is.

Another heads!

This student tosses a die in the air because her penny landed on heads.

This student tosses a scarf in the air because her penny landed on heads.

This student tosses a deck tennis ring in the air because his penny was heads.

A light up ball is tossed and caught by this student since her penny landed on heads.

Landing on tails meant jogging one lap around the gym.  Good job!

Heads or tails?
