Monday was a wonderful day as students celebrated our annual early childhood "Read and Romp Day." Classes rotated to 10 different stations throughout the gyms and annex area where volunteers read a short picture book and students participated in a fun physical activity. There was a ninja laser course with a ninja star throw for Hello Ninja, finding a red mitten inside a box of packing peanuts for A Dot in the Snow, dancing like a tiger to the song "Roar" for I am a Tiger, making geometric shapes with yarn or in a group for Tangled, stuffing a scarecrow for The Scarecrow, playing musical hoops for Goodnight, Little Blue Truck, stacking cups for Bring Me a Rock, and many more. The children were very active and had so much fun!
Our snack area had a wonderful space theme where students enjoyed a rocket ship fruit skewer (prepared by mothers) while they listened to the book Moon's First Friend read by former EC librarian, Mrs. Paulseen. Students decorated the room with their beautiful art work and the finishing touches were added by a Collegiate grandparent who has amazing artistic skills. Thank you to the faculty, staff, administration, maintenance crew, cleaning staff, and parents who helped prepare our facility for this event. Everything looked amazing!
Early Childhood librarian, Mrs. Mould, and I were quite sentimental about this year's Read and Romp, as it is our last one before our retirements in May. We feel, however, that it is a very special event and appreciate being a part of so many children's wonderful memories over the years.
