Cruise Stop #11 - France

In France students learned about a famous bicycle race called the Tour de France. In 2013 this event will celebrate its 100th race.  It will start in Corsica and finish in Paris on the Champs Elysses.  Children learned that the race is over 3000 miles long and includes various terrain, including very steep mountains.  Even though students did not wear helmets during physical education, they learned that all riders in the Tour de France are required to wear one.  The leader of each stage of this race wears the yellow jersey.  Students used tricycles to race around the sidewalks of the quadrangle.  It was harder than it looked.
