Cruise Stop #12 - Italy
Italy was fun so we spent
a whole week there. Students learned a
legend about how a dance, The Tarantella,
was meant to cure the bite of a tarantula.
The townspeople made up this story because
it was the only way the king would let them dance. It was fun to dance and shake the tambourines. Students also played a popular
European game called Bocce Ball. This
has participants rolling balls to see who can get
closest to a very small ball that is thrown in the grass at the beginning of the
game. In Rome, students learned about
the Roman Coliseum and the gladiator battles that took place. We had sword fights with swim
noodles. The object was to knock a ball
off the opponent’s cone.
