Friends University PE Majors Help With Halloween Games

Some of our Prekindergarten and Preschool classes recently enjoyed the assistance of physical education majors from Friends University who came to Collegiate to do some observation hours for one of their college classes.  They worked with students and did a wonderful job.

Students warmed up with an activity called "Boo Ya,"  A ping pong ball with either an eyeball, ghost, or jack-o-lantern on it was bounced and caught in a Halloween cup.  Every time the ball was caught students yelled out "BOO YA!"

One of the games our college friends taught was called "Halloween Hoop Ball."  This game helped children work on stepping in opposition.  Children rolled tennis balls towards a hoop on the opposite side of the floor and attempted to earn points by landing inside a hoop.  If a ball landed in a hoop that was close to your team then the points went to the opposite team.  Some balls were marked with spiders and pumpkins and were worth more points.  At the end of the game, the college students worked with each team to gather up the balls and total up all the points.

Thank you to all our Friends University friends for working with our students.  They loved it and had a great time!
