This was such a fun place to visit, as running through Brazil is the Amazon River. I set up an Amazon rain forest obstacle course with monkeys, spiders, snakes, butterflies, birds, caves, quicksand, piranha, jaguars, and crocodiles. Children climbed rope, rode scooters, jumped over hurdles, walked on balance beams, and worked on catching skills with beanbag birds and frogs. One of our kindergarten classes had a parent guest speaker from Brazil. It was great to hear him speak about his country and things he did there when he was a young child. He also explained that Brazil’s national sport is soccer and they have won the world cup 5 times. All classes played a modified soccer game called mass soccer. This game was fun because all students got to dribble and score. As they scored, they took a piece of colored paper from the matching color cones that served as the goal. They had to acquire all 6 colors of paper which meant they had scored at all the goals. This game kept people moving.
