Cruise Stop #30 - Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, is a location that has much to offer its visitors. A person can ski in the mountains and swim in the ocean in the same day, as sites are in close proximity. Our students learned about Vancouver's annual "Celebration of Light", an international fireworks competition. About 1.4 million people come to see this event each year. We did a routine to "Firework" by Katy Perry, and used the sparkle wands as our fireworks. Students also learned about the Vancouver Canucks ice hockey team. We worked on some hockey skills like dribbling, passing, and shooting. For safety, we used a deck tennis ring for the puck. It was bigger and moved slower, allowing students to have more contact time with the puck.
