Boarding our imaginary ship, students moved up the west coast of California from San Diego to San Francisco. Here students learned about cable cars, Fisherman's Wharf, the Golden Gate Bridge, the 49er's football team, the Giant's baseball team, and a little tiny door that mysteriously appeared at the base of a tree in Golden Gate Park. Children in San Francisco were leaving notes and gifts for what they thought might be a gnome, fairy, or elf. We played a game in PE called "Fairies and Gnomes." Students also did a football throwing activity, went fishing, and played tunnels and bridges. San Francisco was a fun place to travel on our imaginary cruise.
