Happy New Year!

Returning to school in January, we decided to celebrate the beginning of 2014.  We talked about the dropping of the ball at midnight in Times Square and watched a video of the final minute of this event. Afterwards, we had our own ball drop and did an activity to a song called "Happy New Year." This is a grouping activity where students travel about using various locomotor movements and then have to get into groups of a certain number of people when the number is called out.  This took teamwork and cooperation. At the end of the music students got to do a countdown and give a friend a handshake or hug.
