This year the Asian New Year falls on Tuesday, February 5, 2019. It is the year of the Pig. Unfortunately, we will be in conferences on this day. Therefore, my physical education classes will celebrate the Asian New Year on Friday, February 1. We will celebrate the day with a dragon parade through the hallways, complete with a paper dragon, noise makers, sparkle wands, and lanterns. Although there is no special attire required for this event, if your child has an outfit from an Asian country, please feel free to have him/her wear it. In the past we have had some absolutely gorgeous outfits. Students may also wear shirts with dragons, oriental writing, or the color red, which is considered lucky.
Classes who do not have physical education on this day will still be invited to participate in the parade. Please check with your child's teacher to see if they will be joining us.
