National Chopsticks Day - February 6, 2019

Today was National Chopsticks Day, a great way to follow the Asian New Year.  In Physical Education we worked on a fine motor skill, the ability to pick something up with chopsticks.  We had a chopsticks relay and used cotton balls as the rice.  I fixed each set of chopsticks with a piece of paper and a rubber band which allowed students to operate the chopsticks more like a pair of tweezers.  It worked out beautifully.  Students ran to a hoop, picked up a cotton ball with the chopsticks, put it in a bowl, and then ran to another cone and back before their partner took a turn.  There was a lot of running involved but the students enjoyed it.
