Pioneer Day Reminder for Wednesday, January 29, 2020

Wednesday, January 29 - Early Childhood Pioneer Day, 8:30 am - 10:45 a.m. in the South Gym

We'll be kicking up our heels on Pioneer Day, January 29, as the Early Childhood Division celebrates Kansas' 159th birthday.  Students will enjoy numerous pioneer related activities like making butter, roping sawhorse cows, washing clothes on a washboard, watching a quilter and spinner, petting farm animals, playing pioneer games, and singing "Home on the Range" after listening to the book.  This year our music area will include a pianist, guitarist, and a banjo player who performs at the Prairie Rose Supper Club.  A fiddler will be playing, as well, when the students first enter the event.  It's going to be fun.  Following the stations, students, teachers, staff, and guests are invited to come out and scatter square dance.  This activity is easy and great fun for everyone who participates.  The children love seeing their families involved.

If possible, encourage your child to dress in appropriate pioneer attire but, remember, nothing special needs to be purchased.  A pair of jeans is just fine!  For more suggestions, visit my earlier blog that discusses upcoming EC events.
