Early Childhood Read and Romp Day

A few days have passed since our annual Read and Romp Day and I am just now recuperating enough to write about it.  The event was a huge success, with children coming to the gymnasiums to listen to ten books and do corresponding physical activities.  We had wonderful volunteers who made the day so special for our students.  I thank everyone who assisted.  Whether you read a book, played a game, served a snack, ran the clock, monitored the door, or made or provided props or materials, your job was important to me and Mrs. Mould, the Early Childhood librarian.  We appreciate you.

The pirate theme in our snack area was fabulous.  The children's art work was so fun and added such a special touch to the annex area.  If you were lucky enough to see it, I hope you enjoyed it as much as we enjoyed putting it together.

Although I took some pictures in the morning, we had two wonderful ladies who took photos in the morning and afternoon. The photos are amazing and there is a wonderful mixture of reading, activity, artwork, book covers, and closeup photos of children.  I hope you will take time to look them over. Since there are so many photos, I have placed different links below to the morning and afternoon sessions.  Enjoy.

Students did a bumblebee dance to the book "Buzz."

The book "Go! Go! Go! Stop! had children playing Red Light, Green Light.

This student crawls under another student for the book "Over, Under, and Around."

Students matched up pet food cards to the correct pets for the book "Some Pets."

A dance with glow in the dark cat paws made the book "Cat Knit" such fun.

"Follow Me" was the perfect book for the obstacle course.
