Early Childhood Pioneer Day

Celebrating the birthday of Kansas was great fun as early childhood students gathered in the south gymnasium on January 29 to participate in Pioneer Day.  Stations were set up throughout the gym and annex area and students rotated to various places to learn about quilting, butter making, washing clothes with a washboard, barnyard animals, pioneer music, and calf roping.  They also played pioneer games, were read a fun book, ate the apples they peeled, and snacked on cornbread muffins with butter they had made from cream.  At the end of the event, students, parents, grandparents, and teachers scatter square danced. Everyone did a great job.

It took many volunteers to make this day a success and the children really appreciated all of our special helpers.  Thank you very much.
