National Candy Corn Day - October 30, 2018

Today is National Candy Corn Day so, of course, we had to play a game with candy corn.  We actually played a math game that integrated fitness moves into the activity.   A paper was provided with a candy corn on it and different numbers.  Students rolled dice and placed a candy corn on any number that they rolled.  Some classes used only numbers 1-6 while others added dice together and used numbers 2-12.  If students rolled a number that was already covered up by candy corn then they looked at a separate piece of paper to determine what exercise corresponded with that number.  The exercise had to be performed before the dice were rolled again.  The object of the game was to fill in the paper with candy corn.  Exercises on our paper included yoga poses, jumping jacks, jog in place, balance on one foot, lunge, plank, toe touches, arm circles, toes raisers, mountain climbers, and knee lifts. It was difficult to fill in the entire paper with candy corn.

Students roll the dice to see what numbers they will get.

Matching up a rolled di with a di on the board to determine what the numeral looks like that he will look for on the candy corn paper.  He will put a piece of candy corn on that number.

Counting dots on the dice and determining what exercise must be done.

Placing candy on the corresponding number on the candy corn paper

 Balancing on one foot.

 Stretching out the back.

 Performing a plank.
