Monday, November 26, was National Cake Day. Students participated in a square dance activity where they learned a new move called "Cut the Cake." It was not an easy skill and took a bit of practice but students enjoyed learning it. We added in some other square dance skills, as well, and danced to some country music. This will help prepare students for Thursday, which is National Square Dance Day.
The cake (circle) is cut.
After the cake is cut, the two parts of the circle will
swing out to rejoin each other with tummies facing in.
Walk to the center with a whoop and a holler.
Clap to the music.
Circle left with your partner.
Make a star with your partner.
