National Zoo Lovers Day - April 8, 2019

It seems as though everyone enjoys going to the zoo and it certainly seemed to be the case with the children when I talked with them today about National Zoo Lovers Day.  Many children had been to several different zoos around the country and were excited about all the animals they had seen.  We played a game in Physical Education today called "Zookeeper."  Students were animals in different hoops and each hoop had a designated zookeeper.  Each zookeeper's job was to go to another zoo and get an animal and bring it back to his/her zoo.  This continued until I said "stop."  We then counted the animals in each hoop to see which zookeeper had accumulated the most animals.  This game not only kept children moving, but also encouraged some strategy in deciding which hoop to go to for an animal.  It was fun to watch this thought process.

A zookeeper takes an animal from a different zoo and will head back to her own zoo.

This zookeeper, who is wearing the wristband, will take this animal back to her zoo.

This animal is delivered to his zoo by the zookeeper.

This zookeeper ends up with the most animals in his zoo.
