Shocker Spirit Dress Day and International Children's Book Day - April 2, 2019

The city of Wichita is, once again, showing its support of the Wichita State University Shocker men's basketball team who is currently in the final four of the National Invitation Tournament (NIT).  Tonight they are playing Lipscomb University at Madison Square Garden in New York at 6:00 pm.  It seems like everywhere you go, a Shocker symbol is present.

We decided to join in the fun.  Early Childhood had a Shocker Spirit Dress Day today and the faculty, staff, and many students showed up in black and gold attire or other WSU gear.  Everyone looked great and the students are excited to cheer for the Shockers this evening.  If they win, we will have another Shocker Spirit Day on Thursday for the finals of the NIT tournament.  GO SHOCKS!!!

Today is also International Children's Book Day so I decided to combine it with our current enthusiasm for basketball.  I read the book Salt in His Shoes by Delores Jordan, a fun story about Michael Jordan and how, as a young child, he worried about being tall enough to play basketball.  It's a nice story about patience and perseverance.  The children enjoyed it.  Afterwards, students worked on shooting hoops.  It was fun!

This preschool class shows off their Shocker pride.

There was a lot of black and gold in this group.  YEAH!!

Dad and daughter support the Shockers.

 Teachers have Shocker pride, too.

Teachers get in on the Shocker Spirit Dress day.

The lunch staff joins together in support of Wichita State University.
